After having ordered my banana, apricot and walnut loaf (£1.89) and Green tea (99p)
I take in the long room, its wall of glass allowing the sun in and giving the place a relaxing feel. The floors are off-white marble and the walls are dark grey. The ceilings are high and the lighting minimal. There is outdoor seating available too.
I scan the counter with the steam rising from the Full English Breakfasts (£4.99) Jacket Potatoes (£3.25) and the buy-one-get-one-free on bags of yesterdays scones (£1.35). Sitting down on an orange chair at the wood-effect table I enjoy the moist homemade cake.
The hot beverages are reasonable with Ringtons Tea 99p for one cup 1.75 for two.
A regular Hot Chocolate is £1.45 with a large costing £2.10. Fairtrade Filter Coffee is between £1.20 and £1.40 while Lattes and Cappucinos are £1.45 for a regular and £2.19 for a large cup.
Breakfast is drawing to a close as it’s 11.30 and the place isn’t as busy as it usually is but it still feels vibrant thanks to the chatter. The acoustics don’t really suit a lot of noise though.
The place is popular with different ages but today the older folks out number them today. Two old ladies have just sat down. They are at cross purposes: one taking items off the tray as the other put them back on. It resembles a Two Ronnies sketch and they both giggle about it when they realise.
