Elegancy meets modern spirit in Theatre Royal’s café TEATRO.


Right at the reception the café invites visitors of the theatre and passer-bys to enjoy noble atmosphere with a touch of contemporary feeling.






The plain wooden tables and long leather chairs all kept in chic dark brown convey an intellectual ambience, underlined by news articles of past performances which are placed on the wall.


Peculiar about that: those news articles are dated at the beginning of 20th century and are displayed in wooden frames on black walls. The feeling of a supposed glorious past strikes the guest.






But the café does not stand still and targets different clienteles: a light green coloured wall brings modern flair into the room combining the past with the present and old-fashioned elegancy with modernity.






As artistic as the Theatre Royal is, the café does not convey the same feeling, as it is simply plain chic according to the rest of the interior. The enormous long bar, which reflects the reception is held in light brown wood with black stripes makes a massive impression.






The café might target different types of people by this mix but the elegant and slightly posh character is still obvious which might alienate certain people.






Placed at the road, the traffic noise unfortunately disturbs the pleasant atmosphere from time to time, especially during the summer when the windows are open.






However, the prices are surprisingly reasonable: £2,25 for a big cup of cappuccino or £1,80 for a scone are indeed affordable.






Caffé TEATRO invites visitors of the Theatre Royal before or after a performance to enjoy a genteel atmosphere and lose oneself in a conversation about the world of art and cultures.





Guests can purchase hot beverages and soups as well as different kinds of sandwiches and snacks and a few alcoholic drinks.
