Ever stuck for somewhere different to go for a relaxing cup of Coffee in Newcastle?

Then our blog ‘UnderCoverCoffee’ is just what you need. We have travelled around the city to provide the public with our personal recommendations of the best venues to go to for a break from whatever it may be (work or shopping) or a quick catch up with friends.

We have everything to suit your needs: be it an elegant venue for pre-theatre drinks to somewhere for a quick drop in to grab some grub and a quick Latte, ranging from all different price ranges and atmospheres.

Newcastle is a city known for its vast culture, and the cafes UnderCoverCoffee visits reflect this:
Stewart and Co at The City Library is a bright and breezy modern café offering snacks, beverages and hot meals. This out-of-the-way place is situated on the ground floor. There isn’t much scenery to take in but the atmosphere is still cheerful and does not distract from reading.

The Baltic Café Bar has a really great chilled atmosphere-it’s a place where you could go on your own to read a magazine and enjoy the gourmet-style food and a liquor coffee in between taking in the great exhibitions.

The Theatre Royal where you can indulge in a conversation about the latest performances taking over the North East. Enjoy the elegant atmosphere that conveys a feeling of the past.

The Laing café in the Laing gallery is part of a franchise, which also runs the catering for the legendary ST James Park.

The café is accommodating and reasonably priced, if you fancy a look-in the gallery shop is a must see – bring plenty of pennies though as there is something for everyone.

The Laing does have a license for alcohol but you won’t find any rowdy drunks there as they only sell it at functions!

Please comment if there is anywhere you think is worth a mention – the undercover team are always happy to oblige.
